ETHS Bands Spring Break Announcements

Good Afternoon Band Students and Families,
As we begin our break, we have a few important band announcements.  Please read below!

Congratulations!
We would like to congratulate our talented Solo & Ensemble participants for their excellent work in preparing for and executing wonderful performances at our festival.  We had just under 40 participants in this year's event - a new record for the band department.  We would also like to congratulate Ms. Oakes and the Fabulous Flute Choir for their performance on Wednesday evening.  The variety of literature and overall quality of the performance was excellent.  We are so grateful to Ms. Oakes for cultivating such a wonderful program for our flute students.

Chair Auditions - Wednesday April 6th
A reminder that we will be facilitating 4th Quarter Chair Audition Assessments soon after we return from Spring Break.  These auditions will determine seating for the last concert cycle (ending on May 12th at 7:30 p.m.) and will serve as the first assessment grade for MQ4.  Audition excerpts and reference recordings can be found on our webpage: www.ethsbands.com (hot links below)

We want to take this opportunity to put a plug in about our Solo and Ensemble Festival, hosted here at ETHS.  This event is an opportunity for students to perform accompanied solos as well as duets, trios, and chamber pieces in front of a small audience and music evaluator for a rating and feedback.  We will host the instrumental performances in our band room from 4:00 - 9:00 p.m.  Please consider performing a solo or small group composition at this event!  Please coordinate with your small groups and accompanists so we can put a schedule together with ease.  A list of past accompanists is located on our website at:

 http://www.ethsbands.com/faculty_staff/piano_accompanists.html

A solo and ensemble registration form is available above.  Please plan with your band directors, private lesson teachers, and peers to form small ensembles and pick literature for this event.
Post Tour Band Announcements
We had a fantastic trip to DC!  Please check
www.grouptravelvideos.com to view and upload photos from the trip (login: bufis, passord: cfb19).  If you did not get a Bob Rogers Travel drawstring tote bag, there are several bags left at the front of the band room - claim yours tomorrow! Please also visit our webpage to view the blog entries from the trip:
http://www.ethsbands.com/spring_tour/tour_blog_dc2016.html  Lastly, we understand that there were some attendance issues (some students not entered, some marked absent from Monday classes periods 1/2, and some students marked as "parental").  We have resubmitted the student roster and hope that this will be resolved by the end of the week.
