ETHS Marching Band Reminders

Good Afternoon ETHS Marching Band Families,
     I hope that this email finds you all well and that you are enjoying your summer!  I have been told that Marching Band Fees have been steadily rolling in as well as the required forms.  Thank you for staying on top of this!  
Please remember that all fees and forms are due to ETHS by August 1st.  If you have emailed me to request financial aid or to check on the receipt of fees and forms, I will get back with you after I return from vacation (August 1st).  Please consider making a donation to provide scholarships for students in need - every donation is greatly appreciated and is a big help!

Band Camp Rooming List
     Please sign up for a band camp room by August 1st!  We are looking forward to another great year up at GWC!  If you do not sign-up for a room by 8/1, we will assign you to a room prior to camp.

Chaperones
     We are in need of some chaperones for Band Camp - from Monday afternoon August 10th, through Thursday afternoon August 13th up at George Williams College on Lake Geneva.  I am happy to coordinate some shift changes if you can only volunteer for part of the time, but we really need some parent volunteers in order to make this a safe and enjoyable trip.  Please email me directly if you are available to help us out.

Important Season Startup Dates
    A reminder that our student leaders will meet at ETHS on Saturday August 8th from 1:00 - 6:00 p.m.  This meeting helps us plan for our week at camp and setup our home facility for the 2015 school year.  All Marching Band/Color Guard students must attend the Pre-Band Camp meeting on Sunday August 9th from 3:00 - 4:30 p.m. to prep for a smooth start to our season.  Band camp officially begins at ETHS at 8:00 a.m. on Monday August 10th.  We will rehearse in our facility until 12pm before eating lunch, loading the trucks and buses, and heading to camp.  For a full list of our calendar events, please visit our website at

Good Evening Band Students and Families,
     I want to start off by congratulating all of our students who participated in our June rehearsals - especially our new marchers - on a job well done!  Your dedication, work ethic, and enthusiasm have prepared you well for Saturday's parade and we are looking forward to an outstanding performance.  Please see below for more information about this weekend, and since this is our last group email for a while, I have included some reminders about Band Camp and the fall season.  Thank you all for a great first three weeks of the 2015 season!

July 4th Parade - Saturday July 4th 2015
     This Saturday, all students are to report to the ETHS Band Room at 11:30 a.m.  Upon arrival, you will be issued a new ETHS Marching Band t-shirt and cap.  Students are required to wear a pair of khaki shorts with a belt, white socks and white tennis shoes (as close as you can get to white).  We will grab our instruments, load the buses and head to Bent Park - planning to arrive between 12:15 and 12:30 p.m.
     For our students who plan to meet us at Bent Park, please arrive at 12:15 p.m. with your instruments only (no cases).  We will issue you a ETHS Marching Band t-shirt and cap when you arrive, so plan on changing in public or wearing a white t-shirt to Bent Park so you can put your new ETHS Marching Band t-shirt over your white t-shirt.  If you plan to meet us at the parade or leave the parade on your own, you must submit notice to Mr. Bufis and Mr. Lehman via email in advance.  You are responsible for transporting your instruments, music, and equipment, or arranging for transportation of these items, should you choose not to use ETHS Band transportation.
     All students should wear sunscreen on Saturday - sunglasses are also permitted.  Eat a healthy breakfast before you arrive, as you will not eat again until you are dismissed from our care.  For those of you who have families watching - and we certainly hope you will come out to support our band - we typically do not leave Bent Park until roughly 2:30 p.m., even though the parade itself begins at 2:00 p.m.  We typically arrive at the finish line (NU's Ryan Stadium) between 3:15 and 3:30 p.m. and return to ETHS shortly thereafter.  We will prompt students to text you as we are leaving NU so you can arrange to pick them up from ETHS.
     Lastly, we could use some parent volunteers to help us with providing water for our students throughout the parade.  Our ETHS Safety vehicles will be traveling with us to provide water before and after the parade, but we typically have 4-6 parents walking with the band while we march to provide the band with water as needed.  If you are interested in volunteering (it's a great way to see your band student perform for the entire parade), please email Mr. Bufis ASAP.

Band Camp, Volunteering, Fees & Forms
     Our next event as a Band will be our Marching Band Camp Meeting on Sunday August 9th from 3:00 - 4:30 p.m. in the ETHS Band Room.  This meeting is for all marching band students and is an opportunity to prepare our students and facility for a week of rehearsals.  We look forward to seeing you again after 5 weeks of summer apart!  Please reference your Summer Mailer or

    All Marching Band Fees and Forms are due no later than August 1st.  All fees can be paid online at 
https://eths.revtrak.net and all forms should be mailed to ETHS with attention to Mr. Bufis.  If you would like to make a donation to support students in need, or if you would like to inquire about financial aid, please do not hesitate to reach out to Mr. Bufis as soon as possible.
