Band Announcements 4/20 - 4/24

Good Afternoon Band Families!
It's been a great two weeks post-spring break!  All of our students are making great progress as we approach our final concert on May 21st.  We wish all of our students well as they prepare for AP Tests, final examinations, and graduation!  For our seniors, we remind you to cherish these last few weeks of high school.  You are all headed for great opportunities in the coming months, but let's make the most of our time left at ETHS!  A few announcements as we head into the weekend!

Congratulations
We wanted to take a moment to congratulate all of our Solo & Ensemble participants, as well as our Flute Choir and Percussion Ensemble members for their outstanding performances prior to Spring Break!  It seems like forever ago, but we are still getting compliments on your performances and are exceedingly proud of your hard work.  Bravo to our students, and a warm thank you to Ms. Joyce Oakes (Flute Choir Director), Mr. Akria Robles (Percussion Ensemble Director), and Mr. David Morrison (Solo & Ensemble Adjudicator).

Graduation Performance
As is tradition, all members of 5th Period Wind Symphony and 6th Period Symphonic Band are required to rehearse and perform in the graduation band.  Rehearsals will occur during band class after our Spring Concert, leading up to the Sunday May 31st Graduation Ceremony at McGaw Hall on NU's campus.  Call time for all performing band members is 10:00 a.m., performance at 10:30 a.m., and the ceremony begins at 11:00 a.m.  Music will be made up of selections from our recent concert repertoire as well as our traditional processional and recessional music.  We are looking forward to sending the seniors off in grand style!

Guest Conductors
Over the next several weeks, we are fortunate to welcome several prestigious guest conductors to our program to work with our bands.  This morning, the Freshmen Concert Band had a clinic with Mr. David Morrison, retired band director from Prospect High School and current assistant band director at McCracken Middle School.  The group made strong progress and we are looking forward to incorporating his suggestions into our concert preparation.  We anticipate three additional guest conductors in the coming weeks - stay tuned!

Pippin
Our all-school musical opens tonight!  We hope to see you at Pippin performances, running Fridays and Saturdays for the next two weekends in our main auditorium.

Have a great weekend!
Sincerely,
Matt Bufis
