Band Announcements Week of 2/29 - 3/3/2016

Good Afternoon Band Families,
A few important announcements as we head into the weekend!
Marching Band Information Night - Tomorrow (Thursday 3/3) 7:00 p.m. in ETHS Band Room
Our annual Marching Band Information Night will take place tomorrow in the ETHS Band room!  We welcome all new marchers and their families, as well as any returning marchers, to participate in the evening meeting.  There will be an opportunity to meet with the incoming 8th graders, answer questions about our coming season, and hear about the fall 2016 halftime show theme.  It's going to be a great time!
Winter Music Festival Concert - Tuesday March 8th 7:00 p.m. in Auditorium

As the concert approaches, we would like to ask that our band students and families spend a few minutes talking about concert etiquette prior to our community event.  Our expectation for our students is that they be supportive peer members and active listeners for the duration of the concert, with respect for each other as well as for the wonderful community of patrons who attend our annual event.  We have reinforced this expectation throughout our daily preparation this week for what will surely be an evening of wonderful performances.  Thank you in advance for your support!

Solo and Ensemble Festival - Tuesday March 22nd from 4:00 - 9:00 p.m. ETHS Music Wing

Solo & Ensemble Application - Forms Due Monday March 7th

We want to take this opportunity to put a plug in about our Solo and Ensemble Festival, hosted here at ETHS.  This event is an opportunity for students to perform accompanied solos as well as duets, trios, and chamber pieces in front of a small audience and music evaluator for a rating and feedback.  We will host the instrumental performances in our band room from 4:00 - 9:00 p.m.  Please consider performing a solo or small group composition at this event!  Please coordinate with your small groups and accompanists so we can put a schedule together with ease.  A list of past accompanists is located on our website at:

 http://www.ethsbands.com/faculty_staff/piano_accompanists.html

A solo and ensemble registration form is available above.  Please plan with your band directors, private lesson teachers, and peers to form small ensembles and pick literature for this event.
Post Tour Band Announcements
We had a fantastic trip to DC!  Please check
www.grouptravelvideos.com to view and upload photos from the trip (login: bufis, passord: cfb19).  If you did not get a Bob Rogers Travel drawstring tote bag, there are several bags left at the front of the band room - claim yours tomorrow! Please also visit our webpage to view the blog entries from the trip:
http://www.ethsbands.com/spring_tour/tour_blog_dc2016.html  Lastly, we understand that there were some attendance issues (some students not entered, some marked absent from Monday classes periods 1/2, and some students marked as "parental").  We have resubmitted the student roster and hope that this will be resolved by the end of the week.
